Ash Tree Treatment

THE PROBLEM:
Emerald Ash Borer

In 2002, a small green beetle called the Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis) was found in Detroit, Michigan. This insect came from Asia and is not native to North America. Since its arrival, it has spread to many states and caused serious problems. The beetle targets ash trees, which are common in many neighborhoods and forests. The larva of the beetle feeds under the bark, which hurts the tree. Doing an ash tree treatment for emerald ash borer will protect your trees before it’s too late.

HOW SERIOUS IS EAB?

What is the probability that Emerald Ash Borer will affect your tree? 99.9999% if it is left untreated. EAB has already killed over 100 Million ash trees in the Midwest. Whole forests are having their ash trees wiped out. Needless to say, is very dangerous to ash trees. Once one tree dies, the beetles move on to others nearby. This is why treatment for ash trees is so important—an ash tree that is injected is protected, even if your neighbor's trees are infested.

PRO TIP

Watch trees in your community. If it is happening there, it is not too far from you tree ...
EAB can travel up to 15 miles.

PREVENTION vs RECOVERY

It’s much better to prevent Emerald Ash Borer problems than to try to fix them after the damage is done. Once a tree is badly infected, it may not be possible to save it. The cost of removing a dead tree is often much higher than the cost of treating a healthy one. Tree experts offer “ash tree treatment near me” to protect trees before they get sick. Regular treatment helps keep ash trees strong and safe from these beetles. Prevention gives trees the best chance to survive and avoids the heartbreak of losing a beautiful, old tree.

SIGNS OF EAB

Start by watch the trees in your community. If these trees are dying off then EAB is near. It’s important to know the signs of Emerald Ash Borer. The earliest sign is shoots coming out of the trunk or branches. The second sign you might also see bark chipping off, called blonding. The third sign is thinning leaves on branches or at the top of the tree. You may or may not ever see splitting or D-shaped holes in the bark—this is where adult beetles have come out. Sometimes, you’ll notice a lot of woodpeckers around, as they eat the larvae inside the tree. If the tree starts to lose its leaves in the summer or shows dead branches, it is probably infested. If you see any of these signs in your community, it’s time to look for ash tree treatment right away.

How to Know if Your Tree is an Ash

Common features of all ash trees are the compound leaf, shape of the seeds, and anthers. Your tree bark might be different. Common species of ash include Green Ash, Black Ash, Purple Ash, and White Ash. All species are at risk unless they have an ash tree treatment. The pictures below are from a green ash.

5 STAR TESTIMONIALS

Save The Ash Tree Co. were
outstanding! While the entire area is battling EAB, They made time to come look at our tree(s) the day after I called, then treated a couple days later. This after talking with another company that couldn’t come take a look for 3 weeks.

~Ailyn A.

I am so grateful to Save the Ash Tree. We have a large ash tree with EAB and I was told I’d just have to watch it die. They explained that it can be saved and walked me through all the steps of the process. He was patient and taught me about EAB.

~Tonya W.

Amazing experience. Great information. My Ash tree is the only tree I have in my backyard and I noticed some branches were bare and not looking healthy and they put me on their calendar in just a few days. Greatly appreciate all the information.
